Hintlesham Fisheries
23rd of February 2024 – Duration 24 hours
Who Went
For this trip it was only Jason and Craig fishing. Shane turned up for a quick social visit and we were joined by a friendly robin. It was very keen on Jay’s bivvy and the activities around it. You can see on our YouTube shorts.
Oddly we were booked on another lake locally but it was flooded out so, rather than cancel the trip we booked in here last minute.
The Weather
With it being February you can’t really expect much from Carp and any catch is a blessing – thankfully though we got one.
It was rather warm when the sun was out but the second and we mean the second it disappeared you were quickly reminded of the winter chill. At night it dropped to about 2 degrees so it was a little chilly. We were thankful of our winter clothing and sleeping bags.
The Fishing
As anyone who watches the channel will know Craig doesn’t like fishing this time of year. He feels it’s a lot of work for underweight fish and you work really hard for your bites.
However, it’s rare he blanks even in winter when he goes and he delivered a 16 lb Common from Specimen Lake 1 off of peg 9.
It was caught in the margins (a usual for Craig) on a Bio Marine 18mm boillie.
There was good activity from the fish, Jay foul hooked one sadly but otherwise it was a nice 24 hours and a good chance to dust off our gear for the year ahead.
Carp Caught
1 Common Carp at 16 lbs
Hintlesham Fisheries – The Venue
Hintlesham Fisheries is a high end site of four very well-maintained lakes. Each lake offers its own unique fishing experience and they do vary quite a lot.
No matter your experience level Hintlesham has something to offer any angler be you a pro or a beginner.
There are two specimen carp fishing lakes, a match angling lake and also a predator lake which holds good pike, carp and even some large catfish for those who enjoy this.
It has good security, close parking, an onsite shop and friendly and professional bailiffs to help on site. Also, it has great toilet facilities and top notch food when the kitchen is open.
Best of all – if you REALLY hate Bream then go here as there are none, not any in any of their lakes – it’s a winner
