Suffolk Water Park
9th of April 2024 – Duration 24 hours – Trad Lake
Who Went
Another 24 hour session for Craig and Jason here as Shane had work getting in the way. However, this is a venue we all know well as it’s really where we cut our teeth.
We both arrived at 7.30 am not to get started but to have one of the outstanding breakfasts they have onsite at the cafe. So, once that was demolished we knew we’d not really need any food for the rest of the trip.
It really does fill you up!
The Weather
The rain held off but it was an overcast day for the main part. We looked like we were due some storms but they held off. The wind was pretty high though and that remained constant.
It looked a good carp day and the night wasn’t too bad either. A bit chilly but it was one of the warmer ones so far this year.
The Fishing
Jay got to work quickly kicking off with a decent looking carp early on and we both did well. It took my rods a while to get going but when they did it picked up nicely.
We wouldn’t say this is a runs water but it’s good fun and if you know what you are doing, you will catch. The issue can be bream but we managed pretty well to avoid these.
Jay had 5 bream (you’d expect him to have the most of these). He also had a solid haul of 9 carp as well, the biggest at 20 lbs which is his new carp PB. He was well pleased and rightly so as his angling was on point!
He also had another one which looked to beat the PB again but it was just a bulky 18 lb warrior.
Craig had 3 bream (sadly) and 6 Carp, his biggest being just over 20 lbs. So, all in all it was a good fishing event for us to get ready for the summer ahead.
The funny thing about this trip was Jason’s Crafty Catcher, Plumb and Berry Boillie. It did some serious damage with us both moving to this quickly as it was romping away with the fish.
We will be adding a video on this shortly.
Carp Caught
Jason has 9 Carp, the largest at 20 lbs (A pb for him).
Craig had 6 Carp, the largest just over 20 lbs.
Suffolk Water Park Fisheries – The Venue
The Traditional Lake
The Trad lake is a great lake if you want a fair chance of catching carp up to about 28 lbs. The venue is very well set up with an onsite shop for any of the things you forget.
It’s a very professional site, good toilets dotted about, secure parking and a truly amazing breakfast at the onsite cafe.
There is a larger Specimen lake which we’re not that keen on as it’s really tough going. The trad lake though is excellent fun.
It’s very easy to get to and it has everything right for a good fishing venue.
